According to media reports, the body was taken to the Wat Rat Prakhong Tham temple. The woman's brother, Mongkol Sakulku, brought her from Phitsanulok province.
It is reported that on Saturday, November 22, she suddenly stopped breathing, and the elder sat down with relatives after an inspection confirmed her death. Since the deceased wanted to donate the body to Chulalongkorn University for scientific purposes, the brother was in a hurry to transport it.
As reported by MGR Online, Chulalongkorn Hospital refused to accept the body due to the lack of a death certificate, so Sakulku decided to take the body to the temple for free cremation.
The publication reports that while preparing to open the coffin, temple worker Prairat Sudthup heard a knock similar to a blow on the lid. When the coffin was opened, the people and the abbot of the temple were shocked: Mrs. Chonthiros, who had been lying in it for several hours, opened her eyes and moved. Temple staff checked her vital signs and confirmed she was alive, after which the woman was rushed to Bang Yai Hospital, the article said.
On Sunday, November 23, the press service of the Buddhist temple posted a video on Facebook showing a woman lying in a coffin in the back seat of a pickup truck, slightly moving her arms and head. It was later distributed online.
Sudthup noted that he has participated in more than a thousand cremations, but this is the first time he has encountered such a case.
According to MGR Online, on the same day, doctors allowed the woman to be treated at home, because a detailed examination did not reveal signs of respiratory arrest.
