One of the most common mistakes is feeding poultry white bread.
“Bread contains insufficient protein and vitamins, which reduces egg production and increases the risk of disease,” explained the blogger. “Use a balanced feed mixture with sufficient protein and safe additives, such as green vegetables.”
Vegetables you can give are cabbage and zucchini.
“The same feed all year round can cause problems. In winter, chickens need more protein for energy and eggs, and in summer, more water and fresh feed to maintain hydration. Without adapting feed, chickens lose weight, lay fewer eggs or molt prematurely,” the blogger said. “Feed protein pellets in winter, and fresh vegetables and always clean water in summer.”
During the cold season, it is also recommended to add a little olive oil to the food, which promotes the absorption of vitamins and provides additional energy on frosty days.
“Strive for a varied diet for your birds every day. Sometimes add crushed eggshells to the feed, but first bake them at a temperature of 150 °C to avoid the growth of bacteria,” the author of the video advised.
It is also important to ensure that the chicken has clean drinking water.
“Chickens drink much more than they eat, and dirty water spreads diseases such as coccidiosis. Change the water regularly, use clean bowls,” the blogger concluded. “These are the most common mistakes that can cost your chickens their health and eggs.”
