More than 30 prosecutors in the Khmelnitsky region filed a lawsuit against the decision to deprive them of their status as disabled people. NGL.media reports this.
On October 23, 2024, the Office of the Prosecutor General reported that in Ukraine 5.9% of prosecutors are registered as persons with disabilities. The largest number is in the Khmelnitsky region, 61 prosecutors. It was reported that the majority were stripped of this status, and 16 were dismissed. This was preceded by the detention and arrest of the head of the Khmelnitsky regional center of MSEC Tatyana Krupa on suspicion of illegal enrichment.
NGL.media found out that mass checks are still ongoing. Of the 32 prosecutors who protested the decision, 18 have already won in court and regained their disability. And only in five cases did the court confirm the legality of the decision of a specialized research body that abolished disability.
Journalists explain why they hold on to this status so much: disability of group I or II, in addition to salary, gives the right to a pension in the amount of 60% of the monthly salary. In addition, in the event of dismissal from the prosecutor's office, disability can protect against mobilization.
