The increase in UZ cargo tariffs will stop Ukrainian industry.
Any increase in UZ cargo tariffs without economic justification is a blow to business and the economy of the country, says the executive director of the National Association of Extractive Industry of Ukraine (NADPU) Ksenia Orynchak.
For the mining industry, logistics accounts for 30% to 60% of the cost of production. The increase in tariffs means a sharp drop in competitiveness, and in the long run – the shutdown of enterprises and the loss of jobs.
The 2026 state budget should include UAH 24 billion to cover losses from UZ passenger transportation, she says. This will be a safeguard against another attempt to shift the burden of the passenger onto the business, which is already operating in wartime conditions.
“In Europe, passenger transport is financed by the state, and freight works according to market rules. Ukraine must follow this practice, otherwise we risk losing entire sectors of the economy,” says Orynchak.
