The mayor of Sector 4, Daniel Băluţă, announces on Monday the start of the works to restore the Union. The traffic on Splaiul Independence, between the United Nations Square and the Unirii Square, is restricted, except for the river. The mayor also recommends alternative routes.
“We begin to restore the Union floor! The first in the areas in which we will work are the one in front of the Manuc Inn and the Unirii Park. During the works, the traffic on Splaiul Independence, between the United Nations Square and the Unirii Square, is restricted, with the exception of the Riveran,” Băluţă announced, in a Facebook post.
Recommended bypass routes:
- From Corneliu Coposu and University – follow the provisional road through the Unirii Park.
- From Calea Victoriei – follow the route: United Nations – Parliament Palace – Unirii Boulevard.
- From Heroes – do right on Libertăţii Boulevard, then left on Uniri Boulevard.
What works will be in
“We have the building permit for the Union floor. It was signed on the last day of the mandate by the mayor, Nicuşor Dan, to whom I thanked for the collaboration and to whom I hated success in the highest public office, that of president of Romania. Starting.
According to the building permit, the restoration works of the foundation of the almost 100 -year -old concrete floor will consist of: regeneration of public spaces in the Unirii Square area, the restoration of the structure of the Dâmboviţa river, the restoration of the foundation of the Union called Pod. It will finally have a thickness of the concrete layer of about 1.4 meters, Daniel Băluță announced.
Other works that will take place are: the restoration of the construction networks, signaling and road markings, vertical systematization, the execution of temporary roads, the execution of irrigation facilities, temporary interventions on the artesian fountains.
The mayor of Sector 4 specified that the works will be divided into four stages: “All these works will be divided into four stages, respectively in four distinct areas. Zone 1 – the portion in front of the Manuc Inn, Zone 2 – the portion in the park in front of the Unirea store, area 3 – the portion of the Fântânilor area, zone 4 – the portion of the Unirii”.
