Investigation at IPJ Teleorman, following the case of the woman fatally stabbed by her husband on the street, previously reported for abuse, the Romanian Police announces

The management of the Romanian Police announced that checks are taking place at the Teleorman County Police Inspectorate, following the death of the woman who was killed by her husband on the street, although there was a protection order, and she and her family had previously reported that the man who attacked her had repeatedly violated the restrictions.

A 25-year-old woman, mother of three children, she was killed, on Saturday, by her husband in front of the youngest of them, in the town of Beciu, Teleorman county. The crime comes in the context where, according to Snoop.ro, on average every three days a man tries to kill a woman, and in the first seven months of this year there were 46 cases in which women attacked died.

“The leadership of the Romanian Police went to the Teleorman County Police Inspectorate, together with a team of policemen from the IGPR, in order to carry out checks, regarding the management of the situation by the policemen, prior to the commission of the crime of qualified murder. The checking team is made up of specialists from the Internal Control Department, the Public Order Department and the Central Information Analysis Unit. Depending on the findings, take the necessary legal measures”, the Information and Public Relations Center of the Inspector General of the Romanian Police announced on Monday morning, according to News.ro.

The controls at IPJ Teleorman take place in the conditions where the woman killed on the street by her husband, from whom she had separated, had obtained two protection orders, one provisional issued by the Police and one long-term, issued by the court, and after issuing them, the aggressive partner continued the threats and was even accused of kidnapping and raping her, being later released by the authorities.

On September 22, the police had issued a provisional protection order against the 42-year-old man, and four days later, on September 26, the Turnu Măgurele Court issued a protection order for a period of 6 months.

According to IPJ Teleorman, in both situations, the victim did not want the installation of an electronic monitoring system, “in the case of the police carrying out the specific activities according to the legal framework in force”, writes Agerpres.

Released after the woman complained

On the very day the court issued the protection order, the 25-year-old woman complained that her husband took her by force from a park in Turnu Măgurele, put her in a car, took her outside the city and raped her. However, the authorities let him go free.

In the case, a criminal case was drawn up for the crimes of rape, illegal deprivation of liberty, violation of the measures established by the protection order and family violence.

“Following the investigations carried out together with the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Turnu-Măgurele Court, no data was found that would lead to the ordering of preventive measures”, the officials of the Teleorman County Police Inspectorate (IPJ) reported on Sunday.

Also, even after the issuance of the protection orders, the woman's father notified 112, repeatedly, of threats from the son-in-law, but he was sanctioned on the grounds that he called the emergency number without justification, the police considering that the complained aspects “are not confirmed”.

The aggressor, aged 42, was identified at his parents' home, with wounds on his hands and neck. From the investigations, it was established that the man would have harmed himself.
