Rybak interrupted NATO exercises. An absurd reason

Olafur Einarsson, quoted by a Norwegian newspaper on Friday, was fully aware two days earlier that his cutter was in a marked danger zone. In the place where the bullets were about to fall, the fisherman set up his nets. Ultimately, the German pilots had to interrupt the planned exercises and return to base.

The waters around Andoeya Island have been closed for NATO exercises. The Norwegian space center Andoeya Space located on the island was responsible for their safe conduct. According to his representatives, the violation of the prohibited zone by a Norwegian fisherman exposed the German Air Force to “multi-million losses.”

Einarsson's violation of the fishing ban was supposed to be an objection to the increasingly frequent fishing bans in the area. In “Kyst og Fjord”, a fisherman complained that the organizers of military exercises constantly violate the right of local fishermen to fish, and existing arrangements are changed without prior consultation.

“If they continue to practice in our fishing grounds and thus deprive us of the opportunity to earn money, they will have a conflict,” Einarsson said.
