Safe program. Poland has submitted a preliminary declaration of defense loans to the European Commission

SAFE program, which is part of a wider plan to strengthen Europe's defense by 2030, provides for EUR 150 billion in loans for investments of EU Member States in defense. On Friday, the Polish government adopted a resolution, in which the Ministry of National Defense was authorized to declare the participation of Poland in the program.
“Poland has submitted a preliminary declaration to obtaining a loan under the EU SAFE program. We want money from this fund to strengthen the key abilities of the Polish Army and our security programs, including Targe East Program” – wrote Władysław Kosiniak -Kamysz in an entry published on the Social Platform X.
He informed that projects for “an impressive amount of approx. EUR 45 billion” were collected to participate in the program, but – as he emphasized – “How much money we finally receive will depend on the number of applications and the distribution of funds by the EC between Member States“.
“Acquiring these funds is a real investment in the safety and development of our arms industry. It is also strengthening security, deterrence and defense of the entire EU and NATO,” said Kosiniak -Kamysz.
It is not yet known what specific programs – in addition to projects related to the system of installations supporting the defense of the eastern border, i.e. the East shield – will be supported by EU funds. Government representatives have indicated in recent months that the goal is also to support the Polish defense industry, by ordering its flagship products, such as anti -aircraft sets of lightning, crab gun or Borsuk combat vehicles.
