We allocate over PLN 1.1 billion for investments in the infrastructure of the 18th Mechanized Division in Siedlce; today this project is almost completed, for which I would like to thank everyone involved in its implementation – emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister, head of the Ministry of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on Thursday.

On Thursday, Kosiniak-Kamysz visited the military unit in Siedlce, where the command of the 18th Mechanized Division is located. The meeting was devoted to getting to know the current tasks and challenges facing the Division, as well as the infrastructure and investments carried out in the 18th Division headquarters complex with the participation of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Investment Department.

“I am very happy to be in Siedlce today, where we are putting into operation almost the entire complex of the 18th Mechanized Division Headquarters. It is an extraordinary complex – prepared in accordance with all NATO standards, having all safety certificates, and, above all, being an example of the quality of service and diligence in workmanship. I would like to thank all contractors, including the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Investment Department, which was responsible for this great investment. This is as much as seventeen facilities that are now gaining their full capabilities and functionality in Siedlce,” said the Deputy Prime Minister, quoted by the Ministry of National Defense.

Kosiniak-Kamysz later reported on his X profile that the Ministry of National Defense was allocating over PLN 1.1 billion for investments in the infrastructure of the 18th Mechanized Division in Siedlce. “Today, this project is almost completed, for which I would like to thank all those involved in the implementation of this project. The new infrastructure also means better service conditions for soldiers,” wrote the minister.

The Deputy Prime Minister also announced that almost PLN 7 billion this year alone will be allocated to infrastructure projects in the Polish Army, and 80 infrastructure projects in 32 locations are under implementation.

“Modern military infrastructure, in addition to good training of soldiers and modern equipment, is the basis for building state security,” Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized.

During a visit to the military unit, the head of the Ministry of National Defense pointed out that the 18th Mechanized Division took part in Operation Safe Podlasie. “The division will return to the border in February 2026,” Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized.

The Deputy Prime Minister also thanked the soldiers of the 18th Mechanized Division for helping flood victims as part of Operation Feniks. He emphasized that a large number of soldiers from this division take part in activities related to the construction of the Eastern Shield. “It is also an important task to build our security,” the minister noted.

Kosiniak-Kamysz also thanked the soldiers of compulsory voluntary military service. “There are approximately 2,500 people in the 18th Mechanized Division alone. Thank you for your dedication, training and readiness to serve,” he said.

The 18th Mechanized Division, called the “Iron Division”, was formally established in 2018. Its headquarters is located in Siedlce, and it includes units such as the 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade in Wesoła, Warsaw – which includes, among others: the most modern M1AW SEPv3 Abrams tanks, the 21st Podhale Rifle Brigade in Rzeszów or the 19th Lublin Mechanized Brigade in Lublin.

The division also includes a logistics regiment, an anti-aircraft regiment, an engineer regiment, a reconnaissance battalion and a command battalion. The 18th Division is currently one of the fastest developing tactical units in the Polish Army; is indicated by military officials and experts as crucial for the defense capabilities of eastern Poland.

In recent months, soldiers from the Siedlce division have taken part in, among others: participation in large-scale maneuvers codenamed “Iron Defender 25”, in which a total of approximately 34,000 people took part. soldiers, and the main forces were deployed by the 18th Division. (PAP)
