SuperLiga: The former champion with CFR Cluj, amazed by what is happening in Gruia: “Things got out of control”

Former footballer Ionuț Rada (43 years old) commented on the situation of the CFR Cluj team, where Dan Petrescu will be installed again as head coach, after Andrea Mandorlini was dismissed.

“It's complicated what's happening there. Lately, apart from the installation of Şumudică, there's been this rotation between Dan Petrescu and Mandorlini. Now I don't know if Petrescu's return will remain valid or if we'll see another coach. It's clear that things there are not working well at all. Dan Petrescu leaves, Mandorlini comes, Mandorlini leaves, Dan Petrescu comes.

It seems to me that things have gotten out of hand there. Plus the financial problems. If once these things were covered by the results, now it seems that things there do not look good at all. Everything that has happened at CFR lately shows that things are not managed properly.

When you have a team that wins the Romanian Cup, ranks 2nd, and the next year you have this kind of results, it's clear that you got things out of control. The explanations did not come from the administrative management. For the supporters, for what CFR Cluj means in Romania, we should see some explanations for these things that have no logic”, Rada told gsp.ro.

Retired from football in 2020, Rada has a title of champion of Romania with CFR Cluj, in the 2011/12 season. He also won two Romanian Cups with Rapid, in 2005/06 and 2006/07.

Ionuț Rada: “Let's see if Iuliu Muresan will manage to bring the club afloat”

In addition to the change on the technical bench, in Gruia there was also a change at the management level, Cristian Balaj being replaced by Iulian Mureșan, returning to the position of president of the club after 7 years.

“Everything that happened there shows that things are not working. It was the departure of Cristi Balaj, who at first had a good period, brought the expenses afloat. It is clear that there was dissatisfaction that led to the departure of Balaj.

We know very well what Iuliu Mureşan achieved at CFR Cluj. Now the situation is completely and completely different. The lot is not what it used to be. We will see if he will manage to bring the club afloat. It is a very big challenge for the former president.

I did not understand the purchases in very large numbers. I did not understand the bringing of players with names in European football, but who come after periods of unavailability. I expect those there to come out and explain the acquisition campaign, the large number of players who left and who came. There are things that I did not understand”, said the former defender.

CFR Cluj is in 11th place in the SuperLiga, with 13 points after 13 stages, and in the next round it will receive the visit of the Farul Constanța team, on Saturday, from 21:00.
