Several drones have been observed in areas with military airports and installations in Germany in recent days, according to a confidential police report quoted by Bild, which suggests that this week's appearances from Munich are just the tip of Iceberg, Reuters reports, according to News.ro

Dozens of flights were deviated or canceled on Friday at Munich airport, after both tracks were closed following the second appearance of a drone within two days. The operations were resumed, with delays, on Saturday morning.

There are increasing concerns that Russia could be behind an increasing number of drones in the airspace of Ukraine's European allies, but the Kremlin denied any involvement.

Drones used “for military purposes”

Citing the Police Confidential Report he said he saw, Bild stated on his site that the drones observed at Munich airport are “used for military purposes”, without giving additional details or specifying where they came from.

Other appearances in the last three days, are shown in the article, include a drone seen on Friday morning flying about 700 meters from Frankfurt Airport, the largest hub in Germany, and a small flight apparatus that was reported flying on Friday afternoon over a ammunition deposit in northern Germany.

Three drones were also seen the day before, flying apparently in the formation, above an aerial base of the federal police, near the city of Gifhorn, in the north of the country, the newspaper said.

A 41 -year -old Croatian was detained and is investigated for violating public order in relation to the Frankfurt incident, Bild wrote.

The German Ministry of Defense confirmed information in the press, according to which Drone were seen flying over the Erding military base, located near the Munich airport, around the time the airport was closed for the first time on Thursday evening.

The ERDING base is a research and development center of German armed forces in the field of drones.

The police did not reveal details about the nature or origin of the drones. These reports left approximately 11,500 passengers trapped over two evenings and caused the cancellation, deflection or postponement of dozens of flights.

The German Interior Minister Alexander Dobindt, who hosted a summit of European interior ministers in migration on Saturday in Munich on Saturday, said he would equip the police with a drone defense unit.

“We are in a race of arming,” he said. “We want to face this challenge.”

Dobindt promised to adopt a law that would allow the police to ask the army to break down the drones.
