Alarm in two German cities. A gas cloud, potentially toxic, appeared after an industrial accident

A major intervention of German emergency services is underway in the city of Mainaschaff, after a gas cloud has spread over this locality following an incident in an industrial unit, the authorities in Germany announced on Tuesday, the DPA, taken by Agerpres.

The cloud then moved above the neighboring city of Aschaffenburg, causing the German authorities to urge the locals to stay in their homes and bring the people on the outside.

The Federal Civil Protection Office said this gas cloud could be toxic.

The inhabitants were asked to help children and vulnerable people, to receive in their homes in danger and to follow the instructions of the police and the fire brigade.

Also, the local authorities recommended residents to keep the windows and doors closed and to stop the ventilation and air conditioning systems.

The cause of the incident at the factory and its extent remain unknown.

Mainaschaff and Aschaffenburg are two neighboring cities, just a few kilometers away from each other, and Frankfurt is northwest.
