Firefighters intervene in Bucharest due to extreme weather: broken trees and broken cables

Firefighters from Bucharest were asked to intervene in several areas of the capital on Thursday night, after the bad weather caused trees, detachments of construction elements and breaking electrical cables.

The Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) Bucharest-Ilfov announced that it has received several requests for intervention as a result of weather phenomena.
At the time of transmission of the news, firefighters act in the following locations:
- Reactor Street – a tree that risks falling
- Ostrov Street – another tree in danger of collapse
- Theodor Pallady Boulevard – construction elements that may detach
- Alexandria road – tree in danger of falling
- Roşiori Street – a fallen branch on the road
- Gheorghe Şincai Boulevard – broken electric cable
Severe weather weather codes
Meteorologists warn that until Saturday morning the weather will be particularly cold, with abundant rains, wind intensifications and visclated snowfall at over 1,500 meters altitude.
Starting on Thursday night, Olt and Dolj counties are under the red code of heavy rains, where the amounts of water could reach 100-110 liters per square meter. Other counties in the southern half of the country are targeted by orange code warnings and yellow rainfall.
At the same time, a strong yellow wind code is in force for Muntenia, Dobrogea, the east of Oltenia and the south of Moldova, and the capital and nine other counties are under the orange code. Also, meteorologists have issued warnings of abundant snowfall for the east of the Southern Carpathians, the Carpathians and the mountain area of Caraş-Severin, Gorj, Vâlcea, Hunedoara, Alba, Sibiu and Brasov.
