Strong earthquake in Romania, Sunday morning. Has been felt in several counties

An earthquake with magnitude 4.2 on the Richter scale occurred on Sunday morning, at 7:15, in the Seismic area Vrancea, at a depth of over 100 kilometers, according to data published by the National Research-Development Institute for Earth Physics (INCDFP)

Earthquake has felt in several counties in the country

The earthquake took place at a depth of 107.7 kilometers (km), near the following cities: 36 km west of Focşani, 64 km north of Buzau, 74 km east of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 86 km east of Brasov, 92 km southwest of Bârlad and 94 km south of Bacău, according to Agerpres.

In August, 15 earthquakes occurred in Romania

Only this month there were 15 earthquakes with magnitude comprises between 2 and 4.2. And only in the last week there were two earthquakes over 4.0 on the Richter scale.

The largest earthquakes this year, both of 4.4 on Richter, took place on February 13, in Buzău county, respectively on May 11 in Vrancea county. The last year, the most important earthquake had magnitude 5.4 and occurred in Buzau county, on September 16.
