Tusk Blames Trump for Rising Fuel Prices in Poland

Donald Tusk has accused Donald Trump of being responsible for elevated fuel prices in Poland, which, while among the lowest in the EU, remain “devilishly expensive” for ordinary citizens.
Tusk remarked, “It is time to say this out loud. Yes, Donald is responsible for this. There is no doubt. But your hero, not the Prime Minister of Poland. You know very well who is responsible for the fuel prices,” addressing his political opponents.
Although Tusk did not explicitly mention Trump’s name in his statement, the context made it clear. He did not specify the particular decisions made by Trump that he believes caused the increase in fuel costs, though it coincided with the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
Context
- On September 10, benchmark Brent crude oil prices reached $105 per barrel, the highest in five months.
- In early October, Trump, who blamed Ukraine for the global diesel fuel shortage and denied the impact of the war in Iran, eased sanctions on fuel from Russia. However, this did not alleviate market conditions, as on October 20, Brent prices surged again to $111.9 per barrel before slightly decreasing, according to Reuters.
