Three Czech billionaires are set to finance the construction of a new skyscraper in Warsaw, projected to cost approximately 20 billion crowns, or over 3.5 billion PLN.
The investment group AKIPIA, based in the Czech Republic, includes the wealthiest Czech, Michal Strnad, lawyer Tomáš Brzobohatý, a former associate of the late Petr Kellner, once the richest Czech, and Marek Šmrha, a former long-time investment director at Penta.
The Roma Tower is set to reach a height of 170 meters and will feature ultra-luxurious apartments.
In early October 2026, AKIPIA entered into an agreement to become the main investor for the planned Roma Tower in downtown Warsaw. The total project value is estimated by the investors to be as high as 20 billion crowns.
Czech Billionaires Invest in Poland
This project is being developed in collaboration with the real estate firms Liebrecht & wooD and BBI Development, which operate in Poland, in partnership with the Pro Bonum foundation affiliated with the Catholic Church. The investment has received building permits, a contract has been signed with the general contractor, and construction is scheduled to begin this autumn, according to the Czech portal plus.rozhlas.cz.
This type of collaboration is rare, as it involves a private investor professionally engaged in real estate working together with the Catholic Church to build a 170-meter skyscraper. The Roma Tower will be constructed on a plot at the intersection of Emilii Plater and Nowogrodzka streets in downtown Warsaw.
Investments in Poland
During a discussion, Jana Klímová, chief economic analyst for Czech Radio, and commentator Petr Šimůnek addressed the investment in Poland on the program “Nic osobistego, po prostu biznes.” They noted that Poland is generally more open to large-scale projects than the Czech Republic, with many business leaders citing Poland’s approach as exemplary.
