Interviewed by “Het Belang Van Limburg”, Aleksandar Stankovicthe midfielder of Club Brugge, spoke at length about his career, the connection with his father, but also the one with Interto which he could return from the summer. “Chivu always told me that age doesn't matter, only your personality,” confessed the 20-year-old Serbian international.

Aleksandar Stankovic was sold last summer by Inter to Belgium. Club Brugge paid 9.5 million euros for the son of the great former Nerazzurri midfielder, Dejan. But the current Serie A leader has a buyout clause for an amount of 23 million euros. And Cristi Chivu would have already given the “green light” for its activation at the end of the season.

Aleksandar Stankovic: “On the pitch, no one will ask for your ID. Age doesn't matter, only your personality”

He said: “On the field, no one will ask for your ID to see how old you are. Age doesn't matter, it's your personality that counts». So, despite my young age, I dare to say things as they are.”

The Belgians took a dig at Atletico Madrid's opponent in the second leg of the Champions League play-off and mentioned Chivu that he “praised you and said that Inter are watching you closely”. Stankovic returned the compliments: “Those are beautiful words. Chivu is important to me.”

Everything suggests that Aleksandar Stankovic's return to Inter will take place from the first transfer window, given the signals the player is giving

“No European club dares to have as many youngsters as Brugge. I would make this choice a thousand times”

Asked about the possibility of returning to Inter in the summer, Aleksandar confessed: “Everyone knows my contract situation, with the buy-back clause. But honestly I think it's a basic form of respect to focus on Club Brugge while I'm playing here. Inter knows what I'm thinking and that's why they leave me alone. The funny thing is, I'm not the one to decide. Inter decides.

I don't mind that, I can handle it. I was born at Inter, I went through the whole youth system. It's normal that I dreamed of Inter for years. At the same time, I am happy in Belgium and I want to win as many trophies as possible. History shows it's possible here, and my stats speak for themselves.

Just look at Club Brugge's starting eleven. She has such a small average age. No European club dares to have so many young players. Certainly not in Italy. I would make this choice a thousand times over.”
