ING Bank redefines the current account concept and introduces 3 types of packages with multiple benefits: ING Go, More and Extra

ING Bank Romania marks the transition from the classic current account concept to that of current account packages and introduces, for the first time on the banking market, three options: ING Go, ING More and ING Extra, with additional benefits for current and future ING customers.

The new current account packages are unique locally and include, depending on the package type, critical illness insurance of up to 100,000 lei, 10% preferential interest on money saved through Round Up, support for safe travels, as well as many other benefits designed to provide the most worry-free banking experience.

“At ING Bank, we believe that banking must be adapted to real life, where each customer has the freedom to choose the services and benefits that support their lifestyle. Innovation has always been part of our DNA, from the products and the digital infrastructure through which they are accessed, to the way we simplify the banking experience. The new current account packages are guided by this philosophy: to create value where it matters, saving time and resources for our customers.
At the same time, Romania marks an important first within the ING group, being the first country to introduce the global concept of current account packages for customers in the Private Individuals segment. Therefore, this launch is not only an innovation at the local level, but also a strategic landmark for all the countries in the ING group that own this division.” – Eleni Skoura, Deputy CEO & Head of Private Individuals, ING Bank Romania

The benefits and services included in the new current account packages from ING Bank were validated by a survey conducted by Ipsos for ING Global Research in November of this year. According to it, the most expected benefits by Romanians are: the possibility to make payments and withdraw money without commissions (preferred by 88% of respondents), preferential interest on savings made through Round Up (validated by 80% of respondents), medical insurance against serious illnesses (78%), competitive exchange rates (76%) and travel insurance for the cardholder and his family (74%). The study carried out by Ipsos for ING was carried out in November 2025, at the urban level, on a sample of 1610 people, aged between 18-65.

Critical illness insurance and travel insurance, integral parts of the ING More and ING Extra packages

Insurance for serious illnesses is an essential element in the choice of a potential current account by Romanians, according to the study conducted by Ipsos for ING in November 2025. For 36% of respondents, this is a decisive element in choosing a current account, and for 42% it plays an important role at this stage.

The critical illness insurance provided by ING Bank, part of the ING More and ING Extra current account packages, is available for the account holder and their own children up to 18 years of age. The insurance covers the following risks: diagnosis of cancer, acute myocardial infarction, Alzheimer's disease, total loss of sight, loss of one or more limbs, recommendation to carry out a surgical intervention on the heart valves, at the level of the aorta, organ transplant (including bone marrow) or for coronary bypass. The insured amount for the ING More package is 20,000 lei, and in the case of ING Extra it is 100,000 lei.

Regarding travel insurance, 1 in 3 respondents believe that its existence can play a decisive role in choosing a bank account package. In addition, another nearly half believe that being able to insure their travels, for themselves and their family, is an important argument.
