Slovak Prime Minister Claims Some Western Politicians Desire NATO-Russia Conflict

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has asserted that some Western politicians are eager for a conflict between NATO and Russia, claiming recent strategies aimed at undermining Russia through the Ukraine war have failed. According to Fico, Europe is closer than ever to a large-scale war emerging from the ongoing situation in Ukraine.

In a video message released on Saturday, Fico warned, “We are facing a deadly danger,” as he criticized the West for allegedly exacerbating tensions by supporting Ukraine.

He insisted that this support has not produced any significant results, stating, “The failure of the strategy to destroy Russia through the war in Ukraine has led some Western politicians to believe that if the objective cannot be achieved through the Ukrainian army and full support for it, then every effort must be made to instigate a conflict between NATO and Russia.”

Fico Warns Against NATO-Russia Conflict

Fico emphasized that the war in Ukraine does not belong to Slovakia or NATO. He remarked that certain war advocates within NATO are attempting to transform this war into a direct conflict with Russia at all costs.

This week, Fico noted that a drone incursion could trigger NATO’s collective defense clause, asserting his intent to prevent Slovakia, which borders Ukraine, from becoming involved in armed conflict.

On Saturday, he reiterated that it is easy to fabricate a pretext for starting a war, insisting that Slovakia will not send its soldiers to fight based on a manufactured excuse.

On Friday, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that Russia is intensifying its hybrid attacks against Europe. Meanwhile, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk mentioned, citing unnamed intelligence sources, that Russia plans to launch hybrid drone and missile attacks against countries supporting Ukraine.
