Proposed Changes to Housing Compensation Rules for Veterans in Ukraine
The “Advocate+” initiative by the National Association of Attorneys of Ukraine (NAAU) aims to reform regulations that may cause veterans to lose significant housing compensation. Combat veterans and individuals with disabilities resulting from the war in occupied territories are currently eligible for a housing voucher valued at 2 million UAH. However, once an application is submitted through the “Diia” platform, it cannot be retracted to switch to compensation under Resolution No. 719, which may offer a greater amount.
As part of the “Advocate+” project, the NAAU is advocating for the ability to withdraw applications, the establishment of a transparent payment queue, and improved communication regarding delays. Attorney Oleksandr Uroda elaborates on the necessary changes during discussions surrounding this issue.
