The president of CJ Iași recognizes that the number of sinks in the ATI section of the “Saint Maria” Hospital is not sufficient. “We will mount everything needed”

After the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, accused Costel Alexe, the president of CJ Iași, of showing “proof of unconsciousness and total lack of responsibility”, Alexe acknowledged that the number of sinks in the ATI section of the “Saint Maria” Children's Hospital is not sufficient.

“Ziarul de Iași” checked on the spot and found that, although there are sinks, they are, in most cases, located one in two salons, being located in the toilets for patients, not in the care spaces. At the moment, the law in Romania stipulates that they will be more and one in each salon.
The president of CJ Iași has repeatedly emphasized that the modernization works of the Children's Hospital “Sfânta Maria” were carried out according to all the technical and legal requirements, adding that the project of rehabilitation and energy efficiency was “implemented respecting all the technical specifications ” and approved by specialists of the Ministry of Health and the Directorate of Public Health (DSP).
In connection with the accusations regarding the lack of sinks in the ATI salons, Costel Alexe said yesterday, during a visit to the hospital with the press, that the section has sanitary groups equipped with sinks, but acknowledged that their number is insufficient.
“Today, intensive care salons work and have bathrooms equipped with sinks, as it was approved by the Ministry of Health through the Directorate of Public Health. The project of modernization aimed at the entire unit, including body B, which has four Salons with a reserve each, all provided not only with a sanitary group, but also with sinks related to these lounges.
Only 138 million lei were spent on the rehabilitation project. Does anyone think it would have been a country end to install another 12 sinks in the six lounges, which have 12 rooms? We will install everything we need to install or buy, just as these medical units subordinated to the Iași County Council to respect the norms and legal requests of the Iași Public Health Directorate ”, he said.
Costel Alexe said that the responsibility regarding the observance of the medical norms and hygiene protocols rests with the management of the hospital, DSP and the Ministry of Health, not to the County Council. He stressed that CJ Iași has administrative and investment duties, not medical control.
“We do not do medical management. We do not monitor the activity or investments in health except according to the projects that are approved us. Otherwise, everything that the Ministry of Health, by the Sanitary Inspection or DSP, will stipulate or request, we will implement immediately“, Explained Alexe.
The president of the County Council has publicly promised that all those who will be responsible for the loss of human lives or the irregularities in applying medical protocols will respond according to the law.
“I am glad and appreciate the fact that the Ministry of Health has already sent to the Police and Prosecutor's Office in order to verify how the activities were carried out at the Children's Hospital.“, Costel Alexe said.
Rogobete: “I was there personally and I saw: There is no sink in the ATI salons in Iasi!”
Recently, Alexandru Rogobete said that the statements made at the County Council (CJ) Iasi about the sanitary groups and sinks in the ATI salons at the “SF MARIA” Pediatric Hospital represents “A proof of unconsciousness and total lack of responsibility”.
“I followed the statements made at the Iaşi County Council now and I must say it: it is a proof of unconsciousness and total lack of responsibility! Sink can exist in plans and invoices, but in reality they are not there ”wrote Minister Rogobete, in a message posted on his Facebook page during the Friday night to Saturday.
