Blik Reports Record 1.6 Billion Transactions in First Half of 2026

The mobile payment system Blik has reported a remarkable surge in user activity, achieving nearly 1.6 billion transactions in the first half of 2026.
According to the Polish Payment Standard (PSP), which operates the system, this figure represents a 13% increase compared to the same period last year. Katarzyna Matuszczyk, a board member of PSP, stated during a press conference that the average daily transaction volume reached 8.7 million.
The total value of all payments amounted to 244.8 billion PLN, marking an 18% increase compared to the first half of 2025. The average individual transaction value was recorded at 155 PLN.
Blik: 3.6 Million Recurring Transactions
In the first six months of the year, Blik processed 3.6 million recurring transactions, reflecting a 20% year-over-year increase with a total value of 166 million PLN. Matuszczyk noted that this segment is one of the most promising services, as it enables automatic payments for subscriptions, bills, and other recurring charges without the need to enter a Blik code each time. Activation occurs with a standard code at the service provider, and management is conducted directly within the banking app.
Online payments accounted for 48.5% of all operations conducted through the app, with users making approximately 767 million payments in e-commerce, an increase of 16% compared to the first half of 2025.
On average, 4.2 million such transactions were recorded daily, with the value of online payments reaching 124.5 billion PLN, up 22% year over year. The average purchase amount in this channel was 162 PLN.
Financial Services Dominate
In terms of transaction value, payments for financial services, travel, and betting led the sectors, according to Matuszczyk. Analyzing the number of operations, financial services, betting, and transport services were the most predominant.
P2P transactions, commonly referred to as phone number transfers, made up one-fourth of all operations. Users executed 393.6 million such transfers, an 11% increase compared to the previous year, averaging 2.2 million operations daily, with a single transfer value of 172 PLN.
In-store payments, both via code and contactless, generated 378.8 million transactions, marking a 12% annual increase.
Users also conducted 41 million operations at ATMs, representing a 9% rise year on year. This amounted to an average of 200,000 transactions daily, with a single withdrawal value of 708 PLN. Withdrawals accounted for 35.5 million operations, while deposits totaled 5.6 million.
Blik Boasts 21.6 Million Active Users
The number of active users, defined as those conducting at least one transaction per month, rose by 11% year over year, currently standing at 21.6 million.
Despite the rapid growth, PSP’s net profit in 2025 decreased by 6.3% year on year to 183 million PLN, although revenues increased by 16% to 486 million PLN.
The group employs 192 individuals, and in 2020, the Belgian branch of American company Mastercard became a shareholder alongside six banks operating in Poland: PKO BP, Erste BP, ING BSK, mBank, Millennium, and Alior.
Resignation of the President
At the end of July, Blik announced the resignation of Dariusz Mazurkiewicz from his role as president of the PSP. Allegro subsequently reported that he would join their company, focusing on the development of financial products for individual clients and platform partners.
Matuszczyk emphasized that formally, Mazurkiewicz still holds the position of president. “The decision to select a successor lies with our supervisory board, and we will certainly inform you about it in due course. […] we have a broader management team and are still working together as a trio. Our work continues as planned,” Matuszczyk assured.
Mazurkiewicz has been with the Polish Payment Standard for over 11 years, including nine years as president. He did not disclose the reasons for his decision, mentioning only the start of a new professional chapter. The development of the Blik system is managed by the Polish Payment Standard, which includes shareholders such as Alior Bank, Bank Millennium, Erste Bank Polska, ING Bank Śląski, mBank, PKO Bank Polski, and Mastercard. In 2025, Blik users executed 2.9 billion transactions worth 441.5 billion PLN.
