A2 MOTORWAY. The increase that broke the camel's back. GDDKiA will examine the possibility of terminating the contract

The Minister of Infrastructure asked the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways to examine the possibility of terminating the contract with Autostrada Wielkopolska due to the company's increase in tolls for traveling on the A2 motorway on the section between Konin and Nowy Tomyśl, the ministry told PAP.

On Wednesday, toll rates for toll sections of the A2 between Nowy Tomyśl and Konin increased. Autostrada Wielkopolska SA. announced pay rises on Monday. Passenger car users will pay PLN 120 to travel along this entire section. RMF FM was the first to report on the Ministry of Infrastructure's reaction to the fee increase on Wednesday.

“In the opinion of the Ministry of Infrastructure, another toll increase on the A2 motorway managed by AW SA is unjustified. The Minister of Infrastructure asked GDDKiA to analyze the possibility of terminating the contract with the company managing the section,” Anna Szumańska, spokeswoman for the ministry, told PAP.

The previous price increase for this section took place in September 2025. The rate applicable from Wednesday for driving each of the three 50-kilometer sections of the motorway between Nowy Tomyśl and Konin is: PLN 20 for motorcycles, PLN 40 for passenger vehicles with two axles, PLN 69 for motor vehicles with two axles, at least one of which is equipped with twin wheels, and motorcycles and motor vehicles with two axles with trailers.

So far, it was: PLN 19 for motorcycles, PLN 37 for passenger vehicles with two axles, PLN 63 for motor vehicles with two axles, at least one of which is equipped with twin wheels, and motorcycles and motor vehicles with two axles with trailers.

In turn, the rates for category 3 vehicles (motor vehicles with three axles and motor vehicles with two axles, at least one of which is equipped with twin wheels, with trailers) are currently PLN 105, for category 4 vehicles (motor vehicles with more than three axles and motor vehicles with three axles with trailers) PLN 160, and for oversize vehicles – PLN 400.

The cost of travel on the A2 Świecko – Nowy Tomyśl route, on which the toll amount is regulated by decisions of the Ministry of Infrastructure, remains unchanged.

Autostrada Wielkopolska announced in a statement that the ride on the concession section of the A2 motorway between Nowy Tomyśl and Konin is not financed or subsidized from public funds in any way. The maintenance and development of this part of the highway are covered solely by the concessionaire's revenues. As reported in the announcement, the decision to increase toll rates was made based on the analysis of the rising costs of infrastructure maintenance, debt servicing and ongoing investment projects.
