The invasive sunfish, known colloquially as the “piranha perch,” is rapidly multiplying in the waters of Kyiv, prompting fears among local anglers about its detrimental impact on native fish species. This fish, also recognized as the sunny bass, poses a significant threat to local populations of perch, pike, and other native aquatic species. Experts warn that eradicating this invasive species from the waterways may prove impossible, raising concerns over the ecological balance within the region.
