The president of Pakistan, the country that mediated the talks, announced on X that the agreement had been signed digitally. The official signing ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday in Switzerland. However, the details of the agreement are still unknown.
However, some points have already been leaked. What we know so far puts the agreement in serious doubt. It seems that key issues remain unresolved – and Trump preferred to announce a quick truce rather than go into details. This, in turn, casts doubt on the success of the US plan.
Strait of Hormuz
US President Donald Trump announced the imminent opening of the Strait of Hormuz on the night from Sunday to Monday. “At the same time, I authorize the immediate lifting of the naval blockade of the United States. Ships of the world, start your engines! Let the oil flow,” wrote the US president on the Truth Social platform.

The key strait between Iran and Oman, through which about a fifth of the world's oil is transported, is likely part of the peace deal in some way. However, it is not yet clear in what form this issue will appear in the agreement. Iranian media reported that the agreed memorandum of understanding envisages opening the strait within 30 days on “Iranian terms.”
Despite continuing uncertainty over the Strait of Hormuz, global oil prices fell in the hours following the announcement of the US-Iran deal.
Iran's nuclear program
The future of the Islamic Republic of Iran's nuclear program has always been a significant point of contention between both sides of the conflict. The US president confirmed on Sunday his promise that “Iran will never have nuclear weapons.” However, senior Pakistani officials told The Associated Press that nuclear negotiations will continue in the next 60 days after the peace agreement is signed.
According to Iranian parliamentarians, talks will continue only when the United States releases billions of frozen funds to Iran. However, this requirement has already been rejected by a US official in an interview with CNN. This means that the key demand sought by Trump is not being met.
Earlier, the US President repeatedly mentioned, among others: about the possibility of seizing and exporting enriched uranium from Iran. It seems that at this stage the Americans are not pushing this idea. However, it is unclear how they intend to pressure Tehran not to pursue its nuclear ambitions.
Fighting in Lebanon
Despite a ceasefire with Iran, fighting in Lebanon between Israel and Tehran-backed Hezbollah never stopped. Voices from Iran suggest that peace in Lebanon will be an important part of the agreement. “A permanent and immediate end to the war has been announced on all fronts, including Lebanon,” assured Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi.
It is still unclear to what extent Israel will be included in the peace agreement. Neither Donald Trump nor Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has yet commented on Lebanon's role in the peace agreement. Israel was not included in the negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States. Trump also sharply criticized Israel's recent attacks in Lebanon.
— Why did Bibi have to carry out this damn attack? I was extremely pissed and I showed it [premierowi Izraela] – said the US president.
It is not impossible that further exchanges of fire in Lebanon will contribute to a renewed war with Iran. In early June, the Israeli military announced the capture of the key Beaufort Castle on Lebanese territory. The Israeli army was now in a favorable position to launch further attacks.
