Childhood obesity is most often associated with fast food and low physical activity. The chief freelance cardiovascular surgeon of the Russian Ministry of Health, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Leo Bokeria told RIA Novosti about this.
According to the specialist, these two factors have the greatest influence on the growth of excess weight in children and adolescents.
“There are two main causes of childhood obesity: fast food and physical inactivity,” said Leo Bockeria.
He also drew attention to the fact that modern children and teenagers spend too much time with gadgets.
“One cannot help but be horrified by the fact how much time young men and women spend today buried in their gadgets,” the academician added.
Let us remember that physical inactivity means lack of movement. Combined with high-calorie foods and the habit of spending a lot of time sitting, it increases the risk of gaining excess weight.
