The incident was reported by citizens, who sent notifications to the Ploiești City Hall Dispatch, requesting the intervention of the authorities, the Prahovean Observatory writes.

“The pole on Andrei Mureșanu practically bent and represents a real danger”, a citizen sent to the cited publication. Later, shortly after the situation was reported, the pole was lifted from the street.

In a post on Facebook, the mayor of the municipality, Mihai Polițeanu, stated that electricity poles something more like popicles through Ploiești” and explained who is responsible for their maintenance.

“1. The poles that fell yesterday and today do NOT belong to Ploiești City Hall. And I publicly draw the attention of Distribuție Energie Electrica Romania that for months we have been sending them, through RASP, addresses to clarify the situation of the poles in Ploiești and they do not answer us. In the event of a tragedy, I will be the first at the prosecutor's office to hand over all the notifications sent this year and previous years.

2. Distribution Energie Electrica Romania takes money on all the wires stretched by networks on poles, and when they fall under their weight suddenly they are no longer Electrica's. What's more, now we are struggling to cut the forgotten wires on these poles, obviously with costs from the local budget.”

He added that if “institutional communications are ignored, perhaps public communications will be read and considered.”
