10-year-old athlete Alexandra Pascal, who was wounded during Russian shelling, received an apartment in Kyiv from the founder of the charitable foundation, President of FC Shakhtar Rinat Akhmetov. This is stated in a message on the website of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
The keys to the apartment were handed over to Alexandra by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Foundation, Natalya Yemchenko, and the General Director, Ksenia Sukhova.
“We are sure that for a great sports career – and Sasha’s dream of the Paralympic Games is not as a spectator, but as a participant – it is very important to have such a gathering place in Kyiv, and we are giving it,” Yemchenko noted.
In 2022, Alexandra Pascale was injured in a Russian rocket attack on Zatoka, the report said. She lost her leg. After a long rehabilitation, she managed to resume rhythmic gymnastics.
“Less than a year after the tragedy, Sasha won gold at a competition in Chornomorsk, and in 2024 she brought Shakhtar and Arsenal players onto the field before a Champions League match in England, attended the Olympic Games in Paris, and recently celebrated the championship with Shakhtar,” the Foundation wrote.
The Foundation announced the transfer of new housing to Pascal in the capital of Ukraine.
“Sasha is an example of resilience, courage, fortitude. She inspires and is an inspiration to others. Today she saw this apartment and was incredibly delighted. She immediately began to say that she liked everything, especially the colors. Children’s dreams should come true in general. After all, children like Sasha, with their smile, life-affirming attitude, desire to live on and dream, inspire others,” said Sukhova.
Pascal said that the event was a big surprise for her.
“Thanks to Rinat Leonidovich for this incredible apartment. I really like it. I often come to competitions in Kyiv, so I needed an apartment,” she said.
According to the Foundation, Alexandra recently returned from Romania with a gold medal at the international rhythmic gymnastics tournament Carla's Rhythmic Cup.
