Ukrainian blogger was arrested in Japan due to a direct broadcast in the zone of the Fukushima-1 nuclear station

The detention that occurred, according to reports, in the area declared forbidden to visit after a nuclear disaster in 2011, “became the last in some cases when foreigners behaved inappropriately in Japan in search of glory,” the article says.

Two more Ukrainians were also arrested for entering the abandoned house in the town of Okum, the prefecture of Fukushima, on the morning of September 26, the Fukushima police said.

According to TV ASAHI, with reference to the police, all three suspects pleaded guilty. The plot of the TV channel showed a fragment of YouTube Stram, where three men were preparing tea in the house and examined things, obviously left by the former inhabitants.

After the accident at the Fukushimi NPP caused by a powerful earthquake and subsequent tsunami, 12% of the territory of the prefecture were closed for visits, and about 165 thousand people left their homes – both under the influence of orders for evacuation and voluntarily, Media notes.

Although many areas have since then been recognized as safe, some are still considered dangerous – it was there that Ukrainians were removed, TV Asahi reported.

The former ambassador of Ukraine to Japan, Sergei Korsunsky, wrote on Facebook that the Japanese are very good at distinguishing the civilized behavior of foreigners “from a rude, characteristic of guests from some countries neighboring Japan.”

“Such cases are a very poor signal, and it is difficult for me to understand how these characters got into Japan and how it came to the idea of climbing a foreign house. Yes, there are a lot of abandoned housing in the zone around Fukushima. But it is untouched and protects the police as if people live there. Because the house for the Japanese is not just a place, this is a part It was not, because it would not occur to anyone to break the border of private life.

The Embassy of Ukraine in Japan on Facebook called the actions of Ukrainian citizens unacceptable and noted that “they were deeply concerned about the information about the incident that occurred in the Fukushima Prefecture on September 24 with the participation of private individuals – Ukrainian citizens.”

“We consider the actions they committed unacceptable and apologize to all Japanese citizens who they were outraged. We are convinced that this annoying case should not question the feeling of Ukrainians' gratitude for the friendship and sincere help of the Japanese people to Ukraine during difficult trials,” Ukrainian diplomats emphasized.

Context

In 2011, an accident occurred at the Fukushima-1 NPP due to an earthquake and tsunami. As a result of natural disasters in three reactors, nuclear fuel melted, which burned their protective buildings. This was accompanied by explosions of hydrogen and the release of a large volume of radioactive substances, which led to the infection of regions adjacent to the station. Due to the radiation leak, almost 150 thousand people were evacuated, about 18.5 thousand were killed from the elements. Nuclear accident at Fukushima became the most terrible since Chernobyl in 1986, BBC noted.
