When will USR determine whether or not it supports the Tomac Government. The party's county branches have already expressed themselves

The Political Committee of the USR was convened on Friday to determine whether or not the party will vote for the investiture of the cabinet formed by Eugen Tomac. A decision regarding this support has already been taken at the level of the county branches.

On Friday, the Political Committee of the USR will meet from 17:00 to determine whether or not they will support the Executive proposed by Prime Minister-designate Eugen Tomac, the party officially announced.

Cristian Seidler, the spokesperson of the USR party, said on Thursday evening that the result will be “quite predictable”, he told Agerpres. Seidler mentions the consultations that took place at the level of the county branches and that unanimously decided not to support the Tomac Government.

“There will be a meeting of the Political Committee, tomorrow from 5:00 p.m., held online, so that we have a formal decision. But the preliminary consultations in the branches, the consultations with all the members, show us a majority at the level of all the branches: not to support the Government. So the result of the Political Committee is quite predictable,” Seidler also said, quoted by Agerpres.

PNL has already expressed its decision, PSD is still waiting

The liberals decided on Thursday, gathered in the meeting of the National Political Bureau, not to support the Eugen Tomac Government.

“A government without political and parliamentary support is weaker than a minority government,” said interim prime minister Ilie Bolojan, at the end of the meeting, who said that this formula only “evades” PSD's responsibility.

The PNL decision also brought the first reaction of Eugen Tomac, who said that he does not need lessons and that he will continue his efforts to install the new government.

The PSD is also expected to meet for a decision on supporting Tomac's cabinet, but until then, the PSD is waiting for the final list of ministers, as well as the government program, to be submitted to Parliament. Only then, say sources from the party, will Sorin Grindeanu convene the meeting in which it will be clearly decided whether the party supports Eugen Tomac or not.

Thus, social democratic sources say that the meeting may take place on Monday, even before the hearings of possible ministers begin.

In addition to these requirements, PSD does not want to be the only major party to support Tomac. In this scenario, the social democrats will say that each MP is free to vote as they wish.
