IN A SHORT TIME Ilie Bolojan, about the “stakes” of the censure motion, on public television

After the censure motion initiated by the PSD and AUR was read, on Wednesday, in the plenary session of the Parliament, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan gives an interview to the TVR 1 station, from 21.00, in which he is expected to explain what are the “stakes” of the censure motion and the steps that the parties that still support the cabinet he leads will take in the coming days.

Ilie Bolojan will talk about the political situation in Romania these days and about the possible scenarios after the debate and the vote on the no-confidence motion.

HotNews transmits the statements of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan in LIVETEXT format.

The censure motion initiated by the PSD together with the AUR against the Government led by Ilie Bolojan, entitled “STOP the “Bolojan Plan” to destroy the economy, impoverish the population and fraudulently sell the state's wealth”, was read on Wednesday in the assembled plenary session of the Parliament. The debate and vote on the motion will take place on Tuesday, May 5.

PSD asks the liberals to “land” Bolojan

In parallel with the presentation of the motion, the PSD sent a press release asking the liberals who want to restore the coalition with the social democrats after the removal of Ilie Bolojan from the leadership of the Government to support the no-confidence motion.

“In the last few days, I have seen several important voices from the PNL, both at the central level and from the territory, who talk about the need for a post-Bolojan political dialogue between the parties that make up the governing alliance. We encourage all the liberals who think the same, but have not, for the time being, had the courage to express themselves, to do it these days,” the PSD statement says.

On the other hand, the liberals conveyed that, in the event that the social democrats go all the way by voting on the motion, the PNL will not enter another coalition in which the PSD is also a part.

“The PNL firmly conveys that, if the PSD has chosen to go with the AUR, there will no longer be any coalition with them, because an alliance without principles and without respecting agreements no longer has any legitimacy,” the liberals said.

What PSD-AUR accuses in the motion against the Bolojan Government

The motion, signed by 254 parliamentarians, was submitted on Tuesday. For the fall of the Government, a majority of 233 votes is needed in the Parliament, out of the total of 463 MPs.

Also on Tuesday, the reunited permanent offices of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies decided the schedule for the debate and voting on the censure motion.

Thus, on Wednesday, from 12:30, the censure motion will be read in the common plenary.

Next Tuesday, May 5, from 11:00, the motion will be debated and voted on. Voting will be secret, with balls.

The parliamentary groups of PSD, AUR and PACE – First Romania call for the censure motion to dismiss the Government and accuse Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan of having reached a point where he deliberately confuses reform with sale and strategy with improvisation.

“Romania is not a commodity, and state companies are not assets to be liquidated to cover political failures. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan has reached a point where he deliberately confuses reform with sale and strategy with improvisation. Under the pretext of obligations from the PNRR and some «exploratory analyses» drawn up quickly before, the Executive is preparing the most extensive alienation of strategic assets in the last two decades, without consultation in the coalition, without public debate and without a minimum of political commitment”, reads the text of the censure motion, quoted by Agerpres.

“At the same time, the public discourse of the Bolojan Government raises serious questions. It is said that the Romanians would be prepared to invest massively in these listings. A blatant lie! In fact, an operation is being prepared that has nothing in common with the public interest, an opaque action, for the benefit of a few circles, orchestrated precisely by those who trumpet transparency: packages from strategic state companies are removed from the transparent circuit of the market and directed, bypassing the Stock Exchange, through the accelerated placement mechanism, to selected investors, under conditions established at discretion, at prices lower than the real ones”, the censure motion filed by AUR-PSD also states.

The signatories of the motion also claim that, while Romanians feel the daily drop in living standards, the most dramatic in the last 25 years, Ilie Bolojan continues to ignore reality and present as a success a policy that actually produces poverty and social tension.
