Inflation in the USA. Americans may not like Donald Trump's words

Donald Trump on Wednesday downplayed the sharp rise in U.S. inflation caused by the war in Iran, saying the “numbers are great.”
“I love it,” Trump said of new data that shows annual inflation in the United States has hit a three-year high. “I love inflation” – he added, quoted by CNN.
Inflation in the USA. Americans may not like Donald Trump's words
The US president spoke shortly after the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that annual inflation hit 4.2% in May, driven mainly by energy costs that have skyrocketed since the first US attack on Iran earlier this year.
This means an acceleration in the growth of prices of consumer goods and services from 3.8 percent. recorded in April.
The president has repeatedly downplayed concerns about rising prices and their impact on voters, arguing that costs would fall sharply once the war ended.
He told reporters last month that he was not taking Americans' finances “even in the slightest” into account when negotiating with Iran. He later defended this statement.
Inflation and the war in Iran
On Wednesday, Trump repeated his belief that inflation would immediately decline as soon as the war with Iran ends and oil begins to flow freely through the Strait of Hormuz again.
“They will fall like a stone” — he said about prices after the war.
Yet Trump has so far failed to achieve a lasting ceasefire, even though he has continually claimed for months that Iran is close to reaching an agreement.
CNN calculated that from the beginning of the war on February 28 to Monday inclusive Trump has said 37 times that he is close to reaching a deal with Iran.

Donald Trump on oil prices. “We make money”
In mid-March, when oil prices skyrocketed, Donald Trump tried to convince Americans that this was a positive phenomenon.
“The United States is by far the largest producer oil in the world, so when oil prices go up, we make a lot of money,” Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social at the time.
The United States, currently a net exporter of energy, is expected to benefit slightly from higher oil and gas prices. But average families will feel the brunt of price increases at a time when Americans are already angry about the high cost of living and the US midterm elections are approaching. (will take place in November 2026).
