More dead wild boars near “wild zero”. Polish services are combing the forests

Two more dead wild boars were found in close proximity to the so-called wild zero; The collected samples are examined by the Veterinary Hygiene Institute in Piotrków Trybunalski, and the results may be known as early as next Thursday, the Ministry of Agriculture announced on Tuesday.

“The first optimistic information from Piotrków County: one of the dead wild boars found in a close location (approx. 10 km) to the 'zero' case in the Rozprza commune in the Łódź Voivodeship was not infected with the ASF virus,” we read in the information updated on Tuesday on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The Ministry of Agriculture announced that the National Research Institute in Puławy confirmed on Tuesday positive results of the ASF virus in five wild boars found a few days ago.

The Ministry reminded that the hunting ban applies only in the designated area of ​​Piotrków County and covers the area within a radius of 10 km from the location where the skinned “zero boar” was found. The remaining area is still exempt from the ban, i.e. hunting can be organized there.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, searches are still being carried out in the Piotrkowski district: until December 10 this year. the search area covers the south of the first boar found; December 13 and 14 this year. the search will continue northwards.

All dead wild boars found in the district are disposed of using the safest method of transport under the supervision of the service and with strict adherence to biosecurity principles – the press release emphasizes.

Last week, the Minister of Agriculture, Stefan Krajewski, announced that in the forest in the commune. A partially skinned wild boar carcass was found in Rozprza, and examination of it confirmed infection with the African swine fever (ASF) virus. There was an assumption that the corpse was dumped in this place. The circumstances surrounding this case are still being investigated. The activities are carried out by the Internal Security Agency, the police and the District Prosecutor's Office in Piotrków Trybunalski. (PAP)
