US President Donald Trump planted a tree in the white house gardens on Tuesday, called “Maganolia”, a name that reflects the Republican slogan, “Make America Great Again,” writes AFP.
The shrub replaces the oldest tree in the American presidential residence, another magnolia planted almost two centuries ago by a distant predecessor of the Republican billionaire, President Andrew Jackson, notes Agerpres.
The old tree was “in very bad condition” and had become dangerous, explained the current leader from the White House last month.
The journalists did not have access to planting the new tree, but the White House broadcast pictures with the president digging with a gold shovel.

Most US presidents have planted memorial trees in the white house gardens since the 1870s, according to the National Park Service.
