Who is Carmen Moraru, the surprise name circulated to take over an important portfolio in Tomac's Cabinet

A new name that Eugen Tomac will propose in his Executive is Carmen Moraru, who will occupy the chair at the Ministry of Investments and European Projects (MIPE), political sources told HotNews.

Aged 61, Carmen Moraru is currently secretary of state in MIPE and deals with the central public administration, according to her CV. It is the second mandate in this position, the first being between May 2022 and August 2023.

He held another position in MIPE, this time as deputy general secretary, between April and August 2021.

Moraru started his political career in 1992, when he became an advisor, head of service in the Ministry of Transport, a position he held for six years.

Also in the Ministry of Tourism, he held the positions of general director and deputy general director between 1998 and 2006.

In 2006, he became Director General in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, until 2008, when he returned to Director General in the Ministry for SME Trade, Tourism and Liberal Professions.

She held senior positions in the Ministry of Tourism until 2013.

Carmen Moraru also held the positions of director and deputy general director in the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of European Funds.

In June 2018 and until September 2019, he was vice-president of the Intermodal Issues and Networks Working Group within the Council of the European Union during Romania's Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

And as secretary of state, Carmen Moraru was employed in several institutions: the Ministry of European Funds, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitization, the Ministry of Finance and MIPE.
