Transfăgărășan can be reopened on Friday morning, on June 12, “if the state of the road and the weather conditions allow it”, announced the general director of CNAIR.
On Thursday, the last checks will be made on the condition of the road.
On Tuesday, the decision to set up the CNAIR Special Commission was signed to verify the state of Transfagărășan, Cristian Pistol, the general director of the National Road Infrastructure Administration Company (CNAIR), announced on Facebook.
“Thursday, June 11, the commission is going up the mountain to check every kilometer of this high-altitude road and determine the moment when traffic can be safely reopened. If the condition of the road and the weather conditions allow it, I estimate that Transfăgărășanul will open on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 09:00 a.m.,” Pistol also wrote.
“For those who can't wait for the streamers,” added the CNAIR director.
Pistol stated that traffic on the sector between Piscul Negru and Bâlea Cascada will only be allowed between 07:00 and 21:00.
