The world's largest news site has counted the number of times Donald Trump has said he is close to a deal with Iran: “It is obvious that this claim is no longer worth taking seriously”

More than two months have passed since President Donald Trump announced a truce with Iran, saying at the time that the two sides were close to reaching an agreement, writes CNN, in an analysis published on the television website.
For example, on April 7, the American president stated that the talks were very advanced and that two more weeks were needed for “the agreement to be finalized and concluded”.
And yet, two months have passed since then and the deal has not been concluded, although in the meantime, Donald Trump has announced it as imminent several times.
According to CNN, including the period before the ceasefire, Trump has done so at least 37 times. That's the number of times he has said outright — in social media posts, public appearances and phone calls with the media — that a deal was imminent or claimed Iran was desperate for one.
“There is no indication that this is any more true today than it was on April 7th. Yet Trump continues to repeat this, either because he is deluding himself, or because he is trying to calm the financial markets, or because he thinks he can make it happen through sheer force of will. But it is clear that this claim is no longer worth taking seriously,” says CNN.
He also said it on Monday
Just on Monday, the American president said the same thing again.
He said that the United States will declare “total victory” over Iran in the next two weeks, making this statement at a televised rally organized for Senator Lindsey Graham from South Carolina, who is running in the primary elections on Tuesday, reports CNN, quoted by News.ro.
“We're negotiating now, and they want to make a very good deal. They're willing to give us everything, they're willing to give up nuclear weapons,” Trump said.
“I think we're winning this battle, but you're really going to win it in the next two weeks when we declare total victory; it's going to be total victory, it's going to happen very soon, and oil prices are going to plummet,” Trump said.
Asked on NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday why Iran has not accepted a deal if it is so desperate to make one, as he has repeatedly said, the president replied: “Because they are strong. They are proud. There are things they never thought they would do, but they will have to do. They have no choice. And it takes a while,” he assured.
