Last month, more than 350 million packages were collected through the Guarantee-Return system, launched at the end of 2023, the RetuRO company announces. In the summer months of the past years, the threshold of 500 million packages was exceeded.

The data shows that 356 million packages were collected in January, compared to around 330 million placed on the market, leading to a return rate of around 108%.

“Such a result represents a usual seasonal variation, determined by the gap between the time of purchase and the time of returning the packaging,” say those from RetuRO.

Last year, the number of packages that reached the collection points of the SGR system, famous for its 50-money guarantee, increased by more than 50% compared to 2024.

The first year of operation for SGR ended with a monthly return average of almost 300 million packages, and in the second year the average rose to 430 million.

The system administrator announced that in 2025 more than 5.2 billion SGR packaging were returned, and the recycling rate reached 75%.

In the two years of operation, almost 9 billion beverage packages were collected through the Guarantee-Return System.

The system went live on November 30, 2023 and is in its 27th month of operation.
