The initiator of the meeting between Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and Russian businessman Roman Abramovich in Kyiv in May was the Russian side. Suspilna reported this on June 7, citing a source in government circles.
According to the media interlocutor, in this way Russia wanted to find out Ukraine’s conditions regarding the end of the war.
Zelensky conveyed these conditions to Abramovich, and also confirmed his readiness for direct negotiations with the illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The source adds that this has not yielded results because Russia continues the war, despite any public or non-public signals.
The Office of the President does not give official comments on this matter, the media indicated.
