Eurovision 2026: Who are the favorites from the semi-final where Romania also competes

Fifteen countries, including Romania, will try to qualify for the Eurovision 2026 final, in the second semi-final of the famous musical that takes place in the Austrian capital Vienna in Austria.
Of these, Denmark and Australia are among the favorites to qualify, according to France Presse.
The 27-year-old Dane Søren Torpegaard Lund proposes with “Før vi går hjem” (“Before going home”) an electro-influenced pop title supported by clubbing visual effects.
“I've been a big fan of the pageant since childhood. So it's incredible for me to be here today,” he told AFP on Sunday.
Australia, which has been participating in Eurovision by invitation since 2015, sent a recognized artist, 41-year-old Delta Goodrem, with more than nine million albums sold to her credit, competing with the ballad “Eclipse”.
These two countries hope to find themselves in the grand final alongside other favorites such as Finland, Greece or Israel, qualified after the first semi-final of Eurovision 2026, which took place on Tuesday.
Monroe, France's candidate, is also among the artists considered to have the best chance of succeeding Austria's JJ, who won Eurovision 2025 on the 70th anniversary of the world's biggest music contest.
The singer will reveal to the general public on Thursday the scenography of her song “Regarde!”, which combines folk with operatic arias.
But, as with the representatives of Germany and the United Kingdom, the main financial contributors, her place in the final is guaranteed. As the host country, Austria also enjoys this privilege this year.
Romania, Malta, Ukraine, Cyprus or the Czech Republic can hope to get enough points to advance, unlike Armenia or Azerbaijan, according to online betting odds, notes France Presse, which says that even Switzerland's Veronica Fusaro is not in a favorable position to qualify.
Today, Romania enters the second semi-final of Eurovision 2026 with Alexandra Căpitănescu, who will take the stage of the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna on Thursday evening with her band and perform the song “Choke Me”. Our country is in position 3, in the order of entry into the competition. The semi-final is broadcast live by TVR.
