  • A very good Minister of Defense, together with the President of Romania, can cover the national security area.
  • I am very glad that our current ambassador to NATO, Mr. Dănuț Neculăescu, accepted my invitation to be part of the future government. He is a man who has all the necessary expertise, an exceptional diplomat and perfectly understands the security situation in which Romania is, and I am glad that he will be the future Minister of Defense”

Regarding the future deputy prime minister for the economy, Prime Minister-designate Eugen Tomac said that he has not yet made a decision. “I, in order to form a solid and efficient team, in the last three days I had dozens of meetings with many specialists in many fields. On the one hand, you have to understand the system very well… I haven't made a decision because there are several proposals and I'm going to have these discussions and then make the announcement.”

At Digitization, “and here I have identified several professionals with whom I will have meetings tomorrow, and obviously I will determine who is the person I want to co-opt into the team,” said the designated prime minister.

Luca Niculescu, proposed Minister of Foreign Affairs

As Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eugen Tomac confirmed the appointment of Luca Niculescu.

“For us, at the moment, Defense is very important, just as Diplomacy is also very important, and I am glad that the man who managed to advance our file at the OECD with great professionalism, Mr. Secretary of State Luca Niculescu, a professional, has agreed to come to the future government that I will propose to the Parliament”, said Tomac.

At the Ministry of Agriculture, Tomac announced the appointment of university professor Nicolae Istudor, rector of the Academy of Economic Studies (ASE) in Bucharest.

There are also portfolios for which he has not yet determined appointed ministers: “At the Ministry of Health we have several options, I will determine during the week. I have not determined at the Ministry of Finance either,” he stated.

He announced instead that, “at the Ministry of the Environment, for example, I managed to co-opt from the team, a professional who has been working in this ministry for more than 10 years, Mr. Deputy Secretary General Teodor Dulceață. He has a very good reputation and I am glad that he accepted the invitation”.
