The mission took place on June 6, while the mountain patrol from the Nehoiu Montan Gendarmerie Station participated in support actions to unblock the county road DJ 203K, between the towns of Bâsca Rozilei and Gura Teghii. Traffic had been affected after a flood caused by torrential rains blocked about 70 meters of the carriageway.

At around 16:50, the gendarmes were alerted by a call to the single emergency number 112 that two people needed help after getting lost in a difficult-to-access mountain area.

According to the information provided by the Buzău County Gendarmerie Inspectorate, the two people left around 11:00 a.m. with an ATV on a route in the area of Gura Teghii. Due to bad weather and difficult terrain, they lost their orientation and were unable to find their way back.

The mountain gendarmes immediately set out to search for them, but the mission was made difficult by the condition of the roads affected by the heavy rainfall.

Due to the road becoming impassable for the service vehicle, the rescuers had to continue their journey with the help of a tractor provided by a local resident. Later, they walked the last kilometers to the place where the lost people were.

The gendarme crew managed to reach the two people around 10:00 p.m. Fortunately, they did not require medical attention and were in good condition.

Together with the gendarmes, the tourists started moving towards the weather station on Penteleu Peak. Given the unfavorable weather conditions and the risks of a descent during the night, the rescuers decided to stay with the two overnight at the weather station.

The descent to the town of Gura Teghii was resumed in the morning of June 7, and around 12:00 the two people arrived safely at the place of accommodation.

The representatives of the Buzău County Gendarmerie Inspectorate remind tourists to check the weather conditions and the condition of the trails before starting in mountainous areas and to make sure that they are properly equipped for such trips.
