Péter Magyar, the Hungarian opposition leader, claims that Orban's people are preparing a fake clip in which he appears in intimate poses

The leader of the Hungarian opposition, Péter Magyar, the president of the Tisza Party, claims that the government led by Viktor Orbán and the Fidesz party are blackmailing him and plan to release a clip in which he would appear in intimate poses with his ex-girlfriend before the parliamentary elections scheduled for April 12, notes hvg.hu.

“They have been blackmailing me and threatening me with videos and defamation for a long time, and now it seems that on the anniversary they will launch that previously unthinkable Russian-type campaign”the leader of the Hungarian opposition said on Facebook.

“I suspect they intend to release a possibly faked recording made with secret service equipment of me and my ex-girlfriend in an intimate situation,” Magyar said.

“Yes, I'm a 45-year-old man, I use to have sex. With an adult partner. I have three minor children, who this vile, self-styled 'family-friendly' powerhouse completely ignores. But it's good for everyone to know: neither until now nor from now on I will give in to any blackmail”. he also transmitted.

“I didn't steal 650 billion from the National Bank, I didn't pardon the accomplices of pedophiles, I didn't witness the destruction of thousands of children in the care of the state, nor the undermining of the health of tens of thousands of our fellow citizens. Dear cowards from Fidesz, bravely take out everything you have, falsify as you please, I will not give in to blackmail or threats. Not even to the political-economic mafia Hungarians, not even in front of the members of the international network that supports them. Hungary is not for sale, there is no price for which I will abandon my fellow citizens”concluded Magyar.

On the other hand, the opposition leader recently accused Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and the Fidesz party of running a disinformation campaign on TikTok, similar to the one in the first round of the presidential elections in Romania.

“In recent days, Fidesz has further intensified its disinformation campaign on TikTok, above the usual level. They are doing exactly what the Romanian candidate who was subsequently disqualified during the last rigged presidential election in Romania did: with Russian support, in a centrally coordinated operation costing billions, they are flooding the platform with thousands of videos generated by artificial intelligence. This platform is especially popular among young people. Fidesz's electoral fraud is based on lies, on the discrediting of TISZA candidates and on content that seriously violates personal rights and is deeply dehumanizing. The government, obviously terrified of the prospect of losing power, has sunk to a new low.” Péter Magyar forwarded on X.

Recent polls show a close election race in Hungary. According to a study by the 21 Institute, conducted between January 28 and February 2 and published by 24.hu, the Tisza party has 35% support among all voters, compared to 28% for Fidesz. Among voters determined to vote, Tisza would get 53%, while Fidesz 37%.

Another poll, conducted by the Publicus Institute and published by Népszava, shows that, of those who decided to vote, 48% would vote for Tisza and 40% for Fidesz. The results suggest a tight competition and a tense political context, where accusations of blackmail and media manipulation are used to influence public opinion ahead of parliamentary elections.
