The famous lawyer Sergei Groza, who defended the ex-governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Sergei Furgal and defended the interests of Zhanna Friske’s father in the fight for his grandson, received a criminal charge. He is accused of fraud of 10 million rubles.
The lawsuit was filed by one of the founders of the NPP Promtekhkontrakt enterprise in Surgut. According to the businessman, he hired a lawyer to carry out the bankruptcy procedure with minimal losses. The meetings began in 2019 and lasted two years. During this time, Groza came to court only twice and did not develop any position for those whom he represented. The entrepreneur believes that as a result of the lawyer’s inaction, he lost a huge amount. The court ordered the recovery of 409 million rubles from the company in favor of other companies.
The injured businessman filed a complaint against Sergei Groza with the Bar Association, but the defense lawyer also did not come for consideration. After this, the Surgut entrepreneur ran out of patience – the lawsuit was sent to the prosecutor's office. The case was opened under the article “Fraud on an especially large scale.”
Seven years ago, Sergei Groza was already at the center of a scandal. Then Zhanna Friske’s father accused him of stealing 2.7 million rubles after he lost the court case over custody of his grandson. And in 2023, the defense lawyer was brought to disciplinary liability for violating the standards of legal practice.
Two weeks ago, Sergei Groza’s apartment was searched. In addition to the criminal charges for fraud, he has a debt of 30 million rubles to the bailiffs. These are overdue loan payments + fines for failure to comply with court decisions on the payment of debts.
