Ship attacked and sunk in the Black Sea, announces the Turkish Coast Guard. Those responsible remain unknown

One person died and four others were injured after a Turkish fishing vessel was attacked on Friday in the Black Sea, near the Crimean peninsula, the Turkish Coast Guard announced, reports AFP, taken by Agerpres.

The attack targeted the fishing vessel under the Turkish flag DURU 67, off the city of Sevastopol, west of the Crimean peninsula, a Ukrainian territory annexed by Russia, and the vessel sank after the attack, explained the Coast Guard command, which did not provide details about the circumstances of the attack and without identifying those responsible.

Another fishing vessel nearby evacuated the five injured fishermen from the vessel and took them to Inebolu on the Turkish Black Sea coast.

“Unfortunately, one of the injured fishermen, who was in critical condition, died during the evacuation,” the Coast Guard said.

In late May, Turkey warned of an “uncontrollable escalation” in the Black Sea region after a drone attack on a Turkish cargo ship. The Ukrainian Navy claims that a Russian drone attacked the ship.

The incident occurs on the same day that a Ukrainian naval drone, out of control, entered the port of Constanța, where it exploded, causing no casualties.

President Nicușor Dan wrote, on Friday, in a post on the X social network, that the Ukrainian army lost control of four drones, among them the one that exploded in Constanța Port. All four drones self-detonated, so there are no longer any risks to Romanian citizens.

“The marine drone that exploded this morning in the Port of Constanța was part, along with other similar means of combat, of a military operation led by Ukraine against Russian aggression. The Ukrainian forces lost control over those means as a result of the electronic warfare actions undertaken by Russia,” the head of state said.

“The entry of this drone into Romanian sovereign space is a direct consequence of the war waged by Russia against Ukraine,” accused President Dan.
