Ilie Bolojan, the first statements about his potential successor at the head of the Government: “We have reservations” / “We will probably have a discussion on Monday”

“We have reservations about the possibility of a technocrat government having a government with results in the next period”, declared Ilie Bolojan, interim prime minister and PNL leader, after Eugen Tomac, the man charged by Nicușor Dan with the formation of the new Government, announced that he would propose a “technical, not a political” cabinet.
The president of the PNL said, on Thursday evening, on Euronews, that “very likely on Monday” he will have a discussion with the candidate for the position of prime minister.
“Very likely on Monday, at the beginning of next week, we will have a discussion with the prime minister who was appointed to form the Government, so that, after this discussion, we can convene the party's leadership forum and make a decision. If I were to make a few considerations related to this proposal, I would say that we have reservations about the possibility of a technocratic government having a government with results in the next period”, said Bolojan.
The dismissed prime minister also stated that “it is not enough for a government to be made up of good quality people who are well intentioned”.
“It is necessary for him to have unequivocal support in the Parliament, because, whether you want it or not, you get parliamentary support, or what will happen, as we have seen happen in the last 10-11 months? When the Government will be put in the situation – and it will not be able to avoid it – to take measures that do not sound good, no one will be with the Government to support these measures”, added the liberal.
“We cannot vote for a government in which decision-makers come from the PSD”
The leader of the liberals said that the party he leads will not vote for a cabinet “in which decision-makers, who generate the Government's policies, come from the PSD”.
“We cannot vote for a government in which there are secretaries of state, for example, appointed by the PSD or ministers who, in one form or another, are obviously associated with this party. Not because we have a problem with one person or another. Because, having no basis of trust, you cannot imagine that you will go forward with such a formula”, said Ilie Bolojan.
“We cannot vote for a government in which the decision-makers, who generate the Government's policies, come from the PSD, based on this experience we had and based on the total loss of trust in this party. The PNL road is no longer with the PSD, because it has reached us and I think the Romanians have also become convinced of this,” he continued.

The Bolojan government was dismissed on May 5
Romania has not had a Government with full powers since May 5, when the cabinet led by the liberal Ilie Bolojan was dismissed by the PSD-AUR motion of no confidence, after the social democrats decided to withdraw their support.
According to Article 110 of the Constitution, after being dismissed, the Bolojan Government “performs only the acts necessary for the administration of public affairs, until the swearing in of the members of the new Government”.
Nicușor Dan announced on Thursday evening that he is entrusting the formation of the new Government to Eugen Tomac, MEP and his honorary adviser, whom he described as “a person independent of the parties in Parliament, but a person who has the political experience to discuss with each of the parties in Parliament, because consensus is needed from many parties on many issues”.
In a statement sent after the nomination made by Nicușor Dan this evening, the PNL announced that “next week it will seriously analyze the government program and the political formula that the designated prime minister will propose in the next period”. “PNL will not participate in the formation and will not be part of any government in which PSD is present, directly or indirectly,” the liberals stated.
