Sabrina Voinea, one of Romania's most promising gymnasts, is at the center of a new scandal! According to golazo.ro, she allegedly beat her boyfriend, Şerban Cotîrlan, who is also a gymnast in the national team. The incident took place in the “Lia Manoliu” Sports Complex, where they are staying. Today, June 4, Sabrina turns 19!

The witnesses who spoke to the quoted source claim that the tensions started after Sabrina Voinea reproached Şerban Cotîrlan for not spending time with her. The fight allegedly started in the area of the sports complex, where the two train. According to witnesses, Sabrina would have become more and more nervous after the athlete told her that he could not spend the evening with her. At that point, the argument would have escalated and the gymnast would have started insulting and hitting him.
“He kept reproaching him for not wanting to be together. It was towards the afternoon and Sabrina probably wanted to make plans together for the evening. The young man kept telling him that it was not possible. That's where it started. Sabrina started cursing him, throwing bad words at him, and when she saw that he didn't react, she started hitting him. She slapped him more, punched him. She hit him more on the body, not the face,” sources told golazo.ro.
The fight had three “rounds”
The conflict would not have stopped at that point. Şerban Cotîrlan would later go to the Sport hotel, located within the complex, to take his things from the room before leaving. According to the same sources, Sabrina Voinea would have followed him and continued to assault him verbally and physically, although there were other people in the area. “Even if there were people present, she didn't stop swearing at him and hitting him. The boy didn't fight back, he didn't push Sabrina, nothing. He held back. Then they left the hotel and moved away, so I didn't see what happened,” said the witnesses quoted by the publication.
But the story does not end here. Sources close to the athlete claim that, after a few hours, Şerban Cotîrlan would have tried to go home again, but Sabrina Voinea would have opposed it. According to them, the violent episode would have been repeated right under the eyes of the athlete's mother, Camelia Voinea, who is currently suspended by the Romanian Gymnastics Federation from her coaching position. This would not have intervened in the scandal. “After a few hours, Şerban made another attempt to leave for home, but Sabrina objected again. Palms, fists, and her mother, Camelia Voinea, who was present, did not intervene at all,” sources from the sportsman's entourage told golazo.ro.
Şerban Cotîrlan would have filed a complaint with the police
After this last incident, Şerban Cotîrlan would not have resisted any longer and, even if he did not retaliate physically to the aggression, he decided to go the legal route. As a result, he would have gone to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine (INML) to obtain a medico-legal certificate, then he would have filed a complaint with the Police.
Ioan Suciu, the president of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation, Ioan Suciu, indirectly confirmed the whole conflict, in a statement for the same source: “We do not tolerate such behavior that goes against the values of sport and the principles of respect that we promote. We understand that reports have been made to the competent authorities and we are waiting for more details. Currently, Sabrina Voinea is under contract with CSM Constanța and is training in the gym at Lia Manoliu, with the agreement of ANS”. said the former European champion.
This is not the first violent incident in which Sabrina Voinea was involved. In March, she allegedly had an altercation (described by some witnesses as a full-blown fight) with a weightlifter from the national team in the dining room of the “Lia Manoliu” Complex.
