On Sunday, Nicusor Dan published a post on the X website in which: reported that the unmanned aircraft that crashed in Galacz was the Russian Geran-2 drone.

“The recovered fragments were identified with the Cyrillic inscription 'ГЕРАН-2', and the analyzed electronic components, navigation systems, control modules, engine and structural elements show similarities, even to the point of identity, with those of other Geran-2 drones previously found in the territory of Romania and definitely identified as manufactured in the Russian Federation“Dan further explained.

The Romanian president added that all technical markings, design features and materials used are consistent with this type of drones, and that the physicochemical analyzes carried out confirmed the presence of the same types of materials and fuels that have been repeatedly identified in identical devices.

“The fact that such a drone struck an apartment block in Romania, causing injuries and property damage, is extremely serious, and Russia is the only party responsible for this.” Dan pointed out.

“The security of Romanian citizens and the integrity of the national territory are the fundamental responsibilities of the Romanian state and will be defended with all determination,” he added and said that the findings he presented would be communicated to Romanian allies, including NATO and the EU.

“Romania will continue to work with its partners to strengthen security on the Alliance's eastern border and protect its citizens. Romania will not ignore or disregard any incident that threatens the lives of its citizens, national security or the sovereignty of the Romanian state,” he concluded.
