At Krasnoyarsk CHPP-1, a new turbine unit No. 15 with a capacity of 35 MW was put into commercial operation. This is the second turbogenerator launched at the station in a month as part of a large-scale modernization program.

Krasnoyarsk CHPP-1 continues a large-scale upgrade of generating equipment. The project has been implemented since 2019 as part of the federal thermal generation modernization program COMMOD. The program provides for the replacement of exhausted turbine units with modern domestic equipment with higher efficiency and reliability.

The new turbogenerator No. 15 with an installed electrical power of 35 MW has passed comprehensive tests. For five days the equipment operated under load in various modes. Experts checked the stability of the turbine, the parameters of the main and auxiliary equipment, as well as its interaction with the current technological scheme of the station. After completion of the tests, the turbine unit was put into commercial operation. The equipment fully complies with the technical requirements for generating facilities.

Earlier, at Krasnoyarsk CHPP-1, turbine No. 16 was put into operation with the same electrical power – 35 MW, rated thermal power 135 Gcal / h. The new unit made it possible to more efficiently use the station’s existing equipment, including turbogenerators No. 11 and No. 12.

“The commissioning of the second new turbine unit in a month is an important stage in the comprehensive modernization of Krasnoyarsk CHPP-1. Both units are installed to replace equipment that has been in use for more than 65 years and has reached the end of its service life. We are consistently replacing outdated capacities with modern domestic turbines with higher efficiency and improved operational and environmental characteristics. For Krasnoyarsk, this is, first of all, additional reliability of one of the city’s largest heat sources and more efficient operation of the station under conditions of growing loads,” said Sergei Borodulin, director of Krasnoyarsk CHPP-1.

Replacing turbine units makes it possible to increase the efficiency of thermal and electrical energy generation, reduce specific fuel consumption and increase the reliability of energy supply to consumers. Modern turbines are distinguished by improved performance characteristics and are designed for stable operation as part of the updated technological scheme of the station.

Today, Krasnoyarsk CHPP-1 has 10 turbogenerators with a total installed electrical capacity of 435.9 MW. The renewal of generating equipment is carried out in parallel with large-scale environmental modernization of the station. A new chimney with a height of 275 meters has already been built here to replace three old chimneys, a comprehensive replacement of two boilers with a capacity of 220 tons of steam per hour has been carried out, and 15 modern electric precipitators with a gas purification efficiency of over 99% have been put into operation.

As a result of the large-scale modernization program of Krasnoyarsk CHPP-1, the plant’s total emissions have been reduced by 20%, and particulate matter emissions by up to 80% compared to 2017 levels.
