In Minusinsk, a state inspector illegally equipped a mining farm and was subject to criminal charges.

A state inspector of the regional ministry will appear in court in Minusinsk. The man is accused of fraud in organizing a mining farm, the prosecutor's office of the Krasnoyarsk Territory reported.

According to the supervisory agency, in 2024, the state inspector decided to start mining cryptocurrency and prepared his land plot for this: he increased the permitted power supply capacity to 150 kW, which is comparable to the consumption of a small production site, and placed dozens of mining devices there.

To hide the real volume of electricity consumption, the man interfered with the operation of the meter. As a result, the equipment continued to operate, and the meter did not record the actual volumes of consumption. The illegal crypto farm operated in this mode until March 2025, when energy workers did not pay attention to the leaks.

Checks were carried out regularly, but specialists were not able to get to the source of the problems immediately; law enforcement officers got involved in the case:

“When law enforcement officers and specialists together studied the situation in detail, the picture became clearer: 41 mining machines were humming at the site, methodically turning electricity into digital currency. During the operation of the “farm” of the company “Rosseti Siberia – Krasnoyarskenergo”, damage amounting to almost 1.8 million rubles was caused,” said the press service of the supervisory agency.

As a result, the prosecutor's office approved a charge of fraud against the state inspector (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). To compensate for the damage, the defendant’s property was seized: mining equipment, a land plot and 7 weapons.

The case against the man will be considered by the Minusinsk City Court.
